Are you an experienced mechanic who is looking to take the next step in your career within the water industry? Joining a friendly, supportive team, you ll help look after our water recycling centres, maintaining the highest standards for customers. This is an exciting challenge for a Mechanical Technician to be a part of a high performing and dedicated Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation (EM&I) team, covering our sewage treatment sites. You ll be predominantly based in South Gloucestershire but there will also be travel around North Wiltshire and Avonmouth. The role As a Mechanical Technician a large part of your role will require you to work alone, so confidence in your own ability will see you through your day-to-day responsibilities. However, your team will always be on hand when you require additional support. Your varied and diverse responsibilities will include maintaining, testing, installing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment. Examples of equipment that you will be working on include pumps, inlet screens and compactors, grit removal plants and blowers, and compressors. You will also use control systems, such as VSDs and actuated valves, as well as flow, level and pressure measurement systems and PLCs. Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment has been completed. What do I need? We are looking for an engaging Mechanical or Multi-skilled Technician who has recent experience operating within the water industry, FMCG production or within a factory-based environment. You will have experience within a mechanical role that involves planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and fault finding. To be considered, you must have undertaken an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering, along with achieving an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering and a City and Guilds. The successful candidate will have excellent health and safety awareness and IT literacy. Due to the remote nature of this role, candidates will need to hold a valid full UK driving licence.
