In-House Commercial Property Lawyer

LHH are working exclusively with a private equity business that specialise in Renewable energy and land promotion. They work in close partnership with landowners throughout the UK providing comprehensive planning and development solutions to maximise land value. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the In-House legal team providing support across the key businesses. You will be undertaking transactions yourself and also working with external solicitors and advisers to deliver projects to the business. The main day-to-day work will include: Assisting the acquisitions team to appraise sites by conducting initial property legal title assessments and reviews Producing full title reports Assisting the commercial team with preparing and agreeing heads of terms with prospective landowners and commercial partners Drafting and negotiating project agreements including: Option agreements Leases Transfers Easements Wayleave agreements Licences Overage agreements Ensuring timely completion of legal agreements through project management of the legal process, and external solicitors and third parties. Providing property legal support in corporate and project rights acquisitions Dealing with property collaboration and joint venture arrangements with landowners or third parties Providing additional support where required for the strategic land development team including dealing with: Promotion and option agreements Planning obligation agreements The ideal candidate will be a qualified commercial property lawyer with a minimum of 4 years PQE and will: Have a solid grounding in general commercial property matters and come from a strong commercially focussed firm Have extensive experience working with landowners and developers Understand the key factors that are important when dealing with development sites and funding developments Have a track record of being able to work autonomously or within a team facilitating acquisitions, funding and disposals of development projects Be prepared (with support where required) to deal with ancillary commercial documents as part of a deal which may not be straightforward property documents Have the energy to drive results and achieve success for the team and the business Possess commercial acumen and the ability to recognise commercially valuable negotiation points and when to let go Be an excellent communicator able to negotiate and present clearly Be able to engage in "blue sky" drafting where necessary to deal with creative land collaboration arrangements, as well as working in the parameters of more standard precedentsExperience of working with the clean energy sector is advantageous but not essential provided that you have general experience of dealing with land options and development work. Based in the Cheltenham area, supports flexible hybrid working and offering up to £65k, this may be slightly negotiable!
