Mech Tech Professionals is actively recruiting for a Junior Design Engineer for our niche engineering client in Avonmouth. Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager, the Junior Design Engineer will be based at their recently acquired brand new workshop in Avonmouth. The company designs, manufactures, and installs components, fuel and instrumentation and control systems for nuclear power plants and offers a full range of reactor services. The Design Engineer will be responsible for the production of Technical Documentation (2D and 3D Design, Calculation, BOM, Specification, Design Review, etc.). The role involves delivering the Design Package though its Lifecycle in accordance with the company s processes, procedures and instructions. The Design Engineer has a key role in supplying the Design Package by ensuring all requirements are populated, reviewed, examined and prioritised, from the conceptual phase, the detailed design and the construction design. The Design Engineer will be constantly seeking ways to improve Engineering processes, procedures and instructions and will be actively participating in Design Reviews as well as HSE activities in relation with the Design. Key responsibilities will include: Ensuring the Design requirements are defined, gathered, prioritised and followed. Production of Design Deliverables. Ensure Design requirements are defined, gathered, prioritised and followed- Reading and understanding of Regulations, Standards and Specifications in order to obtain Requirements affecting the Design Package. Define and organise the Design Package production as well as understanding what shall be produced as Deliverables and non-Deliverables. Liaison and organisation with relevant stakeholders to discuss the Design Package in order to gather all requirements and specifications allowing concept, detailed design and construction design. Liaison with the Engineering Design Manager to define and prioritise the requirements. Maintain an auditable matrix gathering to ensure the Design Requirements are identified Actively participate in Design Reviews as well as HSE Reviews in order to assess if a modification requires an impact analysis of the Design Requirements. Ensure solutions identified during Design Reviews are correctly implemented. Master HSE requirements & CDM regulations. Production of Design Deliverables- Produce documentation in accordance with the company s processes to ensure it is conforming to the Design Requirements, enabling the internal approval as well as acceptance by the Customer when applicable. Ensuring the studies for the Design Package follow the relevant Standard. Produce concepts accurately and efficiently. Proactively seek best solutions and work autonomously. Checking BOM / BOQ and ensuring the right Standards are used. Checking Deliverables against requirements, specifications and applicable Standards. Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD Design in accordance with the company instructions and guidelines, as well as relevant Standards. Produce Technical Documentation in accordance with the company s processes, procedures and instructions. Manage Design changes and Design Configurations. Perform Design Analysis and associated activities. To be considered, applicants must have the following qualifications, skills and experience: Mechanical / Design Engineering degree or equivalent Proven CAD Software experience (preferably SolidWorks) and Product Data Management System Strong knowledge of manufacturing and Welding processes Knowledge of Engineering, HSE and Quality keys Laws and Standards ISO Standards for Drafting and Dimensioning (desirable) Eurocode 3 knowledge (desirable) Calculation Software (ANSYS, MathCAD) knowledge (desirable) Construction Work in Nuclear (desirable) In return, you will recieve a competitive salary and benefits and a unique opportunity to join a rapidly expanding and successful engineering organisation.
