CNC Machine Setter Operator Job Purpose: Set and operate 3+2 and 5 axis computer numeric-controlled milling machines and due November a 7 axis mill-turn (DMG Mori - Heidenhain, Siemens and Fanuc controls). Understand how the machinery functions and assist with setup and day-to-day operations working with both the software and hardware, problem solving jobs with the support of engineering to optimize production and tooling. Conduct tests and inspection of own output while maintaining and updating associated production and inspection paperwork. Inspect machines and keep them maintained so that production processes continue smoothly and safely. Critical link between the shop floor and engineering on the day-to-day production of customer orders. CNC Machine Setter Operator Job Duties: Read, write and interpret instructions, drawings and procedures to assemble equipment and produce products accurately Oversee machine setup to make sure arrangement is safe and ready to handle its assigned load Load material into machines Monitor machining operations, analyse information and observations to trouble shoot and intervene in the event of malfunctions, breakdowns and machining errors Perform quality control checks of parts to verify the product is acceptable to move onto the next stage of the production process Maintain and update records about the machine's operations and overall performance at regular intervals Verify tooling/insert inventory and communicate order requirements as necessary Regularly inspect CNC machines for mechanical and safety issues, performing minor maintenance tasks to ensure machines function correctly Perform work by following the company's operating standards and international regulations Pay constant attention to surroundings keeping a focus on safety to reduce accidents and injuries, while helping others to conduct themselves appropriately around operating machinery Work flexibly around a double shift operation schedule and be available to work overtime to keep up with production demand during busy production periods Work well with other team members, maintaining clear and honest communication to obtain and provide information. Any other reasonable requests for which the necessary skills, knowledge or experience are apparent. CNC Machine Setter Operator Skills and Qualifications: Education through an apprenticeship or technical program with certification in machine shop technology or machine tool technology/machinist; or equivalent on the job experience Mechanical and technical knowledge and experience of using and configuring CNC machine tools Minimum 2-3 years production experience with CNC milling and turning, preferably on 3+2 or 5 axis machinery Experience on DMG Mori machines would be advantageous Ideally trained on or have experience using Heidenhain, Siemens, Fanuc controls, if not training will be given. Able to read and interpret technical drawings Able to use key measuring tools and equipment (gauges, probes, vernier, rule, etc) Possess strong analytical, communication, and computer skills. Have a good general understanding of mathematics Demonstrate attention to detail and a methodical approach to working Have the aptitude to analyse and troubleshoot in a work environment Possess the physical strength, fitness and stamina for the job CNC Machine Setter Operator Person Profile: We are seeking committed, capable and dependable candidates who are self-motivated and can work safely, confidently and independently, whilst having the ability to work as part of a small team.
